How to Hypnotise the Non BelieverDo you want to learn how to hypnotize someone? Maybe you want them to help them change an inhibiting behaviour, or you just want the coolest party trick ever. But can you actually hypnotize a non-believer? It is not that difficult to hypnotize someone if you first try and understand what hypnotism really is. First you need to be clear about what hypnotism isn’t. Hypnosis is not making people become zombies with the use of a watch, repeating the phrase ‘you are getting verrry sleeeeepy’. It isn’t, making them think they are a cat or a rock star or anything else like that. People do not have superhuman powers or anything of the sort when they are being hypnotised, they have all the same abilities they would if they were awake, and their normal selves. Hypnosis can produce some amazing outcomesHypnosis can however have some pretty amazing outcomes. It can help someone to get rid of a habit that they wouldn’t normally have the power to do, like quitting smoking. Hypnosis can help to change associations of people so that their lives become more focused and they are motivated to achieve their goals. It can also help to relieve many mental imbalances, like those in patients with depression or anorexia. Hypnosis is a state of conscience where the therapist opens the subjects mind for suggestions. The subject is deeply relaxed and very willing to listen to anything you say, and be in total agreement. Very often, the subject does not even know they are in a trance, because they can still hear, and sense everything around them. It is easier for the hypnotherapist to put a very willing and non judgmental subject under hypnosis. A non-believer should at least be willing to cooperate fully with the hypnotherapist, as someone who is a total skeptic and feels like they are wasting their time will not be able to be hypnotized. Relaxation is the key to effective hypnosisThe process of hypnosis is actually not that difficult. It begins with getting the subject become relaxed. Every muscle in their body must be relaxed and the patient’s thoughts should be steady and slow, which usually takes anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. After this initial stage is complete, the suggestions can begin. In this next stage the hypnotist can suggest things to the patient that they will hear and will be programmed into their subconscious mind, like ‘You hate drinking’. Suggestions like this will go on for about 10 to 15 minutes after which the subject should be brought back out of the trance with a backwards count from five. On reaching the count of one, the subject should be fully awake and alert. It might take a couple of sessions to alter a deeply engrained behaviour. In some cases this could extend to even ten or more, but it is always possible to change. Check out your subject before attempting hypnosisIf you already know how to hypnotize people or have just learnt the technique, you must be excited to use it. Perhaps you have the feeling that you can hypnotize absolutely anyone on the planet and that you are always in control. While you feel that you can convince anyone to do what you please, hypnosis cannot work on everyone. Even when a subject wants to be hypnotized, there will be a lot of situations where people will not enter the trance state. Entering the trance state requires experience and practice. The person who is going to be hypnotized needs practice. The subject may not reach it at the first attempt but sooner or later, will eventually do so. Hypnosis does not work every time and it does not work on everyone on this planet. You need to be aware of that before you end up making a fool out of yourself. Who is not suitable for hypnosis?Hypnosis does not work on everyone. Studies show that hypnosis will be ineffective for people with an I.Q. that is below 70. If someone tries to manipulate a subject using hypnosis they will be unsuccessful. Hypnosis works better with subjects in the 100 plus I.Q. range. Since hypnosis involves imagination and creativity, people that have low I.Q. will find it difficult to keep pace. Another type of person where hypnosis will not work is one with concentration difficulties. These are the subjects with A.D.D. Subjects with attention deficit disorders or hyperactivity disorders find it difficult to be hypnotized. The ability to concentrate and focus is crucial for hypnosis so if the candidate has difficulty concentrating then it is best not to even try the process. You will be hitting a brick wall if you try to hypnotize someone with concentration disorders. A third type of subject where hypnosis will be ineffective is complete skeptics. A skeptic is one who refuses to believe in the power of hypnosis and is unwilling to give it a try. This person will continue to ignore the fact that hypnosis works while he or she is being hypnotized. Hypnosis requires concentration and also involves immersing oneself into a trance state. Without the full participation and cooperation of an individual, hypnosis will be impossible. Since skeptics refuse to believe in the power of hypnosis from the very beginning, trying to hypnotize them will simply be a waste of time. If you are wondering how to hypnotize the rest of the world then your bubble has just popped. You cannot hypnotize everyone you want. The only people that can be hypnotized are those who are willing to be hypnotized. This means that you cannot go out there and try hypnotizing everyone in your path. |
